Wild Hearts
Wild Hearts is a collection of wildlife paintings inspired by the incredible resilience, skill, spirit and intelligence of wild creatures and our deep evolutionary relationships with them.
Areion
Exhibited at Equine Art, Emerald Downs, WA,2019. National Juried Exhibit, Oxford, PA, 2019. Awards, Best in Show, Poster Award.
Seeing wild horses is a dream many people share, especially my fellow equestrians. Hot spring road trips into the Oregon high desert meant I was able to see them for myself. These incredible beings are highly social and are adept communicators. This piece is named for the speaking horse, Areion, from greek mythology because you can see the herd’s conversation by their body language, especially the ears. The fact of equine communication is a newer revelation and I am happy to see many equestrians beginning to pay attention to their language, leading to happier, healthier lives for these amazing creatures. 24”x36”, oil on wood panel, 2019

Spring Peeper
In Maine, the springtime chorus of frogs is an especially welcome sound after our long, snowy winters. These amazing tiny creatures manage to bring so much joy to the people here! 18"x18", oil on wood panel, 2024
Black Bear Generations
Becoming a mother myself, this image went straight to my heart. It is amazing what lengths mothers go to to protect and raise their offspring, and it is a trait that most humans share with animals. Exquisitely beautiful in every way, this is how life perpetuates itself on earth-- pure love. Black bears are peaceful animals, omnivorous, and deserve our complete respect rather than fear. 12"x12" oil on wood panel, 2024
Cygnus
The Steens Mountain Range in Oregon is an important place for migrating trumpeter swans. On a clear night in November, I got to witness thousands of swans trumpet joyfully through the night. I also learned the Cygnus constellation from my soon to be fiance, now husband. 20"x20", acrylic on canvas, 2019
Arianrhod
In Welsh mythology, Arianrhod is the goddess of the moon and stars, prophecy and dreams, who can shapeshift into an owl. Indeed, it is hard not to believe that owls are pure magic when you have the chance to see one in the wild. This iridescent, layered depiction of a mythical grey owl attempts to capture the human mythologization of this skilled, and fascinating creature. 24"x36", oil on panel, 2019.
