Illustration Portfolio

Artist, illustrator, and author Cee Grimes creates nature-centered artwork inspired by the rich, complex textures and wonders of landscapes, plants, trees, mushrooms, and wildlife. Her work bridges the precision of scientific illustration with the expressive qualities of abstract art, combining organic painting, cut-paper collage, and drawing. Rooted in nature, made by hand, created with heart.

Art Process:

Inspiration

Each piece springs from daily immersion in the beauty of nature. I listen, observe, walk and wander in wild places, filling my creative well with beauty and wonder.

Design

I use a sketchbook to play with layout, character design, and story boarding. This helps create clarity and visualize my finished pieces.

Paint | Cut | Create

I play with layers of nontoxic acrylics, building colors and textures inspired by what I see outdoors. From those painted pages, I cut, sketch, and reassemble plants and animals into scenes that feel alive and full of story.

Purpose

My art celebrates the truth that all life is interconnected and has value. I hope my work invites both children and adults to pause, notice, and feel that sense of belonging, for the health and wellbeing of all living things.
