I lived on the west coast of Canada and Washington for many years, and became enamored with the old growth forests there. An unfathomable depth of time marked by growth rings gives me a sense of time beyond myself and everyone I've ever known. For centuries, and in some cases millennia, these beings have been present, breathing the air we now also breathe. I try to share that stillness, depth and presence when I walk among those giants. Tree rings are not only a beautiful, mesmerizing pattern found along trails in the pacific northwest but a symbol of presence beyond our own.
